Unearthing Forgotten Narratives is my street photography project that delves into the overlooked world of defunct and discarded objects on the streets and common areas of flats in cities, finding beauty in the forgotten remnants of urban life. Despite being discarded and nearing the end of their lifespan, these objects possess a quiet allure that transcends their material worth. Through my 50mm F1.8 lens, I explore the poignant juxtaposition between decay and beauty, weaving metaphors of resilience and impermanence into each frame.
Each rusted bicycle wheel, weathered signpost, or broken chair serves as a metaphor for the transient nature of life and the passage of time. In capturing their quiet poetry, I invite viewers to reflect on the oxymoron of beauty found in decay, challenging perceptions of value and worth. By elevating these forgotten artifacts through photography, I eventually hope to spark a dialogue about our profligacy, excessive consumption, waste management and recycling.
