Between contracts
and creativity.
Vivek is a Mumbai based photographer whose work explores the subtle territory between perception, emotion, and abstraction. A lawyer by profession, his artistic practice emerges from an unusual intersection of analytical discipline and visual intuition. In his images, light becomes both subject and metaphor, and ordinary is transformed into quiet reflections on form, movement, and consciousness.
His work often challenges the convention that photography must faithfully describe reality. Through techniques such as intentional camera movement, spatial reorientation, and mirrored compositions, he reshapes familiar scenes into contemplative visual studies. His images invite viewers to look beyond representation and engage with the emotional resonance of light, colour, and rhythm.
Vivek’s photographs have received several national and international recognitions, including the Gold Winner award at the Budapest International Foto Awards (BIFA). His work has been exhibited in cities including London, Budapest, Barcelona, Mumbai, and Delhi, and has appeared in publications such as Vistara Airlines’ in-flight magazine, Deccan Chronicle, and various photography platforms and journals.
Alongside his independent practice, Vivek has pursued formal study in photography to deepen his visual language, completing the Integrated Photography Course at Michigan State University, the “Seeing Through Photographs” program by the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York, and a Fashion Photography course at the BHAOF School of Photography, Mumbai.
Alongside his personal photographic practice, Vivek has become increasingly involved in initiatives that foster dialogue within the photographic community. He currently serves as the Chief Editor of Creative Zyne, an international magazine on photography and fine arts exploring the intersections of visual culture and contemporary artistic practice.
More recently, he founded the Zyne International Photography Awards (ZIPA), a global photography award making recognition more accessible to photographers worldwide—with the vision that photographs should be judged on their strength rather than the ability to pay entry fees.
He is currently preparing for exhibitions in London and Mumbai, and is set to release March 2026 issue of Creative Zyne and run 2026 edition of ZIPA.
