What if we stopped chasing Instagram-worthy, and started chasing soul-worthy?

Social media doesn’t deserve every piece of your life—some stories belong only to you.
Dear Reader,
There are places I’ve gone where not a single photo was taken. Not because I forgot my camera, but because I remembered something far more important—I was meant to be there, not just photograph it.
We live in a time where experiences often feel like auditions. We step into moments wondering—Will this make a good post? Is this Instagram-worthy? But what does that even mean? That a place, a feeling, a fleeting second has to pass through an invisible filter of visual perfection and social validation to be considered real? Beautiful? Worthy?
I’ve started resisting that.
Because not every city I make a road trip to needs a selfie with my car. Not every meal that moved me needs to be styled and captioned. Not every sunrise that held me in silence needs to become a reel backed by trending audio. Some moments are too sacred, too intimate, too alive to be flattened into pixels.
You see, travel—real travel—isn’t about proving you had a good time. It’s about having it. Feeling the air shift, seeing the topography change, as you drive past or cross into a new town. Watching strangers become stories. Tasting unfamiliar spices with no intention of rating them. Laughing for no reason and crying for even less—a look, a memory, a piece of music, a sudden wave of nostalgia. Getting lost, only to find yourself.
None of this needs to be shared to be validated.
We’ve let social media become a curator of our lives. We perform joy, stage spontaneity, and post pain only when it’s poetic. We crop, caption, and filter life to fit into someone else’s idea of what it should look like. But here’s the quiet rebellion:
My life is not a pitch to the world. It doesn’t need to be eligible for Instagram.
My life is already beautiful. And so is yours.
And sometimes, the bravest, most honest thing you can do is to experience something deeply and tell no one about it. To keep it unposted, unshared, untouched by algorithms. Just yours.
So if you ever see silence on my feed, know this—I might just be out there, living a story I don’t need to tell.
Not because it wasn’t magical, but because it was.
With heart,
Vivek
